Confidential Items Register

Council and Council Committee meetings are open to the public and attendance is encouraged.

From time to time, Council or a Council Committee may decide it is necessary to exclude the public from a meeting for a particular item.

The public can only be excluded from a meeting for the reasons listed in Section 90(3) of the Local Government Act 1999.  A copy of this list and more information on Council's Code of Practice on Access to Council and Committee Meetings and Associated Documents is available here.

Under Section 91(7) and (9) of the Local Government Act 1999, Council or a Council Committee can make an order that a document is kept confidential and if that order operates from more than 12 months it must be reviewed annually.

The register is updated when an item is released or a new item is considered in confidence at a meeting.
