About:

Welcome to the Naracoorte Regional Livestock Exchange, South Australia’s premier livestock selling facility.

The NRLE (or ‘saleyards’ as it is commonly known) has been operating on the corner of Wimmera Highway and Carters Road facility since 1973. Constructed by the Naracoorte District Council, the Naracoorte Lucindale Council is the proud owner and operator of this regional facility. The NRLE is operated as a stand-alone business unit within Council, with revenue generated quarantined into a reserve fund.

The operations of the NRLE are overseen by the NRLE Management Board. CLICK HERE for more information on the Management Board. The NRLE contributes significant direct and indirect economic benefits to the Naracoorte Lucindale community, including transport operators who move stock and purchase fuel, locals who work there, agents who use the yards and businesses which support the NRLE operations and its users. It is an important part of the local economy and one of regional South Australia’s main livestock selling centres.

Compliance:

The Naracoorte Regional Livestock Exchange’s PIC number is SK900234. When selling livestock on the LPA NVD, please consign to your livestock agent but use the destination as NRLE and use the PIC listed above, not the agent PIC. The Naracoorte Regional Livestock Exchange is accredited as part of the National Livestock Quality Assurance (NSQA) and European Union (EU) programs. The NRLE has committed to a quality approach in the provision of service for the marketing of livestock. All stakeholders of the Naracoorte Regional Livestock Exchange are committed to the implementation of operation and management practices in accordance with standards set by the NSQA program.

Animal Welfare:

NRLE requires all vendors and transporters consigning or delivering livestock to the NRLE facility to comply with the industry standards as stated in the MLA document “Is it fit to load?” – see below:

Livestock will not be accepted at the NRLE which fail to comply with the “Fit to load?” guidelines. All injured, diseased or moribund livestock will be destroyed immediately, and the relevant charges applied to the vendor through their agent. Vendors should check with their preferred agent for the current schedule of fees and charges to euthanise and dispose of livestock at NRLE.

PIRSA (Department of Primary Industries and Regions South Australia) regularly monitors for Animal Welfare and Disease Surveillance on both cattle and sheep.
