COVID-19 COMMUNITY UPDATE

At the Naracoorte Lucindale Council the health and wellbeing of our community, our Elected Members & Council staff, and our organisational needs, are all of high importance and value to us.

With the COVID-19 situation continually changing, Council is actively reviewing its response to the COVID-19 to ensure that we take appropriate actions in a timely and measured approach.

We have taken further steps this week to minimise risk to the health and safety of our staff, volunteers, elected members and the general community and these actions include:

 Closure of the Naracoorte Library as at 5.30pm 24/3/20. Members of the public will still be able to borrow material from the Library but this will be done via:
o Telephone (08) 8762 2338
o Online www.libraries.sa.gov.au/naracoorte
o email LibraryMail@nlc.sa.gov.au

 Naracoorte Visitor Information Centre (VIC) will be closed as of 5.30pm 24/3/20. With the recent announcements from Federal and State Governments on closure of some businesses, and border closures – there has been minimal public access and use of the VIC.

 Largely due to supply issues or closure of facilities, public toilets in Naracoorte at Pioneer Park and the Swimming Lake will be closed, as will Bay 13 (Football Oval) at Lucindale.

 Naracoorte Regional Livestock Exchange (NRLE) – remains open as the NRLE continues to play a key role in the red meat supply sector. To minimise risk, Council and the Naracoorte Combined Agents have agreed to put in place access protocols to the site and these include:
o Only NRLE staff, agents and their contractors, buyers and transport operators to be on site.
o Vendors will not be permitted within the yards.
o All persons entering the yards must do so at the single designated point.
o All persons entering the yards will be required to provide their name and phone number.
o Good hygiene and social distancing practices to be observed.
o Following all directions provided by Council staff
o Canteen only available for takeaway sales

For the time being, services will continue as normal at Council’s Naracoorte and Lucindale Council Offices, and Naracoorte Waste Transfer Station. There will be some distancing from the public and our staff. As is normal practice both the Naracoorte and Lucindale Depots are closed to the public, and we would ask members of the public to not attend either of our Depots.

We ask that all visitors to Council facilities practice social distancing - the more space between you and others, the harder it is for the virus to spread.

We also ask that you follow appropriate health and travel protocols with respect to COVID-19. If you fall into a self-quarantine category, please do not attend any of our premises. To protect our staff and community, please also do not attend our premises if you have been in contact with a person with suspected COVID-19, or if you are experiencing any symptoms. If any of the above applies to you, please transact any business by phone 08 8760 1100, email council@nlc.sa.gov.au or online www.naracoortelucindale.sa.gov.au

Council will continue to monitor information from Federal and State Governments, the Local Government Association of SA, and SA Health. We will continue to assess our position, and will provide updates to keep you informed.
We also encourage you to access information and advice about COVID-19 via www.health.gov.au or www.sahealth.sa.gov.au
