Chief Executive Officer Contract Extended
Naracoorte Lucindale Council CEO Trevor Smart will continue in his current role, with his contract formally extended.
Elected Members have endorsed Mr Smart’s continuation in the role, which sees his contract extended until 20 May 2028.
This outcome is the result of an extensive CEO performance review process undertaken by Elected Council, and assisted by the CEO Recruitment, Performance Review & Remuneration Committee. The CEO Performance Review was undertaken with the assistance of an external human resource consultant, and commenced in April 2022, through to final consideration by Council at its August 2022 Council Meeting.
The Elected Council is responsible for developing and reviewing the key performance indicators of the CEO as well as reviewing the remuneration and conditions of employment in conjunction with the annual review process.
On behalf of Elected Members, Mayor Erika Vickery OAM said Council was pleased to secure Mr Smart’s leadership for an extended term. Mayor Vickery added that Council was very satisfied with Mr Smart’s key achievements, strong strategic approach and skill-set including:
- Delivery of the Naracoorte Library
- Establishing Masterplans for townships, communities and Council assets
- Bringing more prominence and importance to Engagement and Community activities
- Project delivery at the Naracoorte Regional Livestock Exchange
- Establishing Long Term Financial Plans and Asset Management Plans for Council assets, facilities and services
- Overseeing the organisation through the complexities of the Covid-19 pandemic
- Setting a strong strategic direction for the organisation
- Maintaining positive relationships with Elected Members
