NARACOORTE LIBRARY - COVID-19 Update 13 May 2020
Council will be reopening the Naracoorte Library as of Monday 18 May 2020, but with restrictions on the customers attending, and restricted library services.
The reopening follows advice from the State Government that libraries can commence the process of opening to the public.
To protect the community and our library staff, no more than 10 customers will be permitted in the Library at any one time, plus staff. To ensure we do not exceed the maximum of 10 customers and to assist with contact tracing requirements before entering the Library you will be required to provide your name and phone number to a Library staff member and follow staff advice.
Until there is further guidance from the State Government, Council will be phasing in a return to normal library services, and these include:
- customers who have placed library items on hold will be contacted by Library staff to make an appointment to collect these items.
- Toy library and the Meeting / Local History Room remains closed
- Computers and photocopier are not available for public use
- Customers only wanting to return items should use the return chute rather than entering the library
- To ensure social distancing seating is not available for public use
- Newspapers and magazines will not be available for browsing in the library
Customers are asked to practice self-responsibility by following social distancing protocols (1.5 metres from each other).
We encourage good hygiene practices, and ask you to use the hand sanitiser at the entrance to the library. If you are unwell, please do not visit the Library.
We understand that the Library is a much loved hub in our community, and we welcome our customers back to the Library. Council will continue to actively review its response to the COVID- 19 to ensure that we take appropriate actions to resuming normal services at the Naracoorte Library in a timely and measured approach.
We encourage you to access information and advice about COVID-19 via www.health.gov.au or www.covid-19.sa.gov.au Also consider downloading the COVIDSafe app, which is a key part of the Australian Government’s efforts to slow the spread of COVID-19. Having the confidence to find and contain outbreaks quickly will mean governments can ease restrictions while still keeping Australians safe. The app is available at www.health.gov.au
