Community members are invited to a free presentation by former Naracoorte resident, Her Excellency Suzanne McCourt Australian Ambassador to Zimbabwe at the Naracoorte Town Hall on Thursday 30th March at 6pm.
Former Naracoorte resident and Australian Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Her Excellency Suzanne McCourt, is visiting the Naracoorte Lucindale district at the end of March.
In honour of Ms McCourt’s visit, Mayor Vickery is inviting the community to a special presentation at the Naracoorte Town Hall on Thursday 30 March at 6pm. Ms McCourt will share her story and experiences as a career officer with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT).
Since March 2015, Ms McCourt has been the Australian Ambassador to Zimbabwe, based in Harare. In this role she is also High Commissioner to Zambia and Malawi, and Ambassador to the Democratic Republic of Congo and Republic of Congo.
Ms McCourt attended Naracoorte South Primary School and Naracoorte High School. She is married with two children. Her parents, Howard and Kathryn McCourt live in Naracoorte.
“I’m very pleased to host this special presentation by Australian Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Her Excellency Suzanne McCourt. I encourage everyone to attend this presentation and hear Ms McCourt’s journey from growing up in Naracoorte to being an Australian Ambassador” Mayor Vickery said.
“I am delighted to be able to return home and share some of my experiences with the people of the Naracoorte Lucindale district, and to learn more about local industry, including export successes” Ms McCourt said.

While in the district Ms McCourt is also visiting the Naracoorte Caves, meeting with students at Naracoorte High School and Lucindale Area School and meeting with industry representatives.
Previously, Ms McCourt has served overseas as Deputy Head of Mission at the Australian Embassy in Dili, Timor-Leste, and as Second Secretary at the Australian Embassy in The Hague, Netherlands. Ms McCourt has also held a range of positions in the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade in Canberra, including in the Office of Trade Negotiations and Domestic Law Branch.
Ms McCourt holds an Executive Masters of Public Administration from the Australian National University/Australia and New Zealand School of Government, a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) and Bachelor of Economics from the University of Adelaide, a Graduate Certificate in Legal Practice from the University of South Australia, and a Graduate Diploma in Foreign Affairs and Trade from Monash University.
